I have specialized knowledge of the subject areas they teach, and I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta University of the Arts. I incorporate a range of instructional strategies, including the appropriate use(s) of digital technology, according to the context, content, desired outcomes. My objective is to bring forth materials that are varied, engaging, and relevant to students and build student capacity for collaboration.
The Surrealist art movement presents fantastic exercises like the “exquisite corpse” game. Both individual and collaborative, learners use their imaginations to generate imagery, which they pass on to peers. Such an activity incorporates student variables, including:- demographics, e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, religion. The imagery created allows for peer connection giving learners the chance to learn of the broader context of their environment.
Further art holds great potential to generate evidence of student learning to inform teaching practice. Visual evidence provides ample material for feedback, providing formative and summative assessment experiences for learners in the classroom.
