TQS 2: Engaging in Career-Long Learning
Currently collaborating with other teachers to build personal and collective professional capacities and expertise is the backbone of my practice. As a new teacher, I implicitly rely on my peers and both within my school. But further, in my extended peer group from university, too. Actively seeking out feedback has always been difficult for me. However, entering this profession, I am astounded by the kindness of everyone I have encountered. Collaboration within the school system and with other artists and peers outside education is also of great value to me.
I have an untenable level of curiosity, which is my why of teaching. I hope to share that with the learners that I encounter throughout my career. A significant part of my learning has been an involvement with the Wilder Institute and Calgary Zoo. Critically reviewing and applying educational research to improve practice comes in the form of casual education with guests and curious people. I firmly believe that education rests not only in the classroom but in the every day as well.
