My viewpoint of learning is that knowledge is acquired through the collection of experience. As such, fostering … a school community filled with equality and respect is paramount. Safe learning environments play an important role in learner’s executive functioning. Employing classroom management strategies that promote positive, engaging learning environments based on kindness is also imperative. Being aware of and facilitating responses to the emotional and mental health needs of students is the best way to maintain an environment of high student efficacy.

To provide a place of belonging.

During my practicum, I used appropriate universal and targeted strategies and supports to address students’ strengths, learning challenges and areas for growth. Taking part in the GSA, we silk screen printed t-shirts that were sold to the general populace of the school as a means to promote inclusivity. Further, we engaged specific students to lead the printing process and design the logos, herein providing opportunities for student leadership.
